What Is the Motivation of My Project?

Introduction

Railway transportation plays a significant role in industrial and commercial development. In the past, steam locomotives and diesel locomotives were invented to load woods, stones or gases for long-distance transport on land. After 18th centuries, commercial model of railway transport, exclusive for passenger delivery, was developed all over the world. Nowadays, there are over 90 countries have their own railway system, affecting by local politics and business models each of them has their railway operating properties. In Japan, railway system is controlled by enterprises, which makes high quality of services but high fee to pay for tickets. In the United States, National Railroad Passenger Corporation administrates the complicated and mass net of railway, which contributes to a stable corporatization operating. The country where I live, Taiwan, it also has its railway association which is a national enterprise and is responsible for Taiwan Railway, but in 2021, a serious accident of train derail gave rise to the reformation of TRA. It focuses on aspects of supervising, management and precaution of railway operation.

The reformation starts from a derail accident.

Derail Accident?

April 2nd, 2021, a serious derail accident of Taroko happened in Hualien, which causes 49 people died and 213 injured. It is the human error and the lack of monitoring devices that give rise to this accident which is avoidable. A truck slipped off of the construction slope and stuck on the passing railway. After 20 seconds the "Taroko" crushed collided with the dropped truck then tilted into left side bumped into the tunnel.

Lacking of monitors and report system in the construction site, TRA(Taiwan Railway Association) failed to set precaution for preventing foreign objects from intruding railway. It's definitely that TRA must take responsibilities to those victims' families.
